Commitment to cultural exchange and diversity

Intrax Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity based in San Francisco, has a rich history of promoting cultural exchange and diversity. Since its establishment, the foundation has been dedicated to awarding fellowships, partnering with non-profits, and offering cultural experiences to students and families.

Board Spotlight

Glen S. Fukushima

Glen S. Fukushima is Vice Chairman of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), having been nominated by President Joseph R. Biden in October 2021 and confirmed by the Senate in April 2022. He also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, a Washington, D.C. think tank.

From 1990 to 2012, Fukushima was based in Asia as a senior business executive at several multinational corporations and was elected to two terms as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan. He also served on the board of corporations and nonprofit organizations and during the 1990s served for eight years in the White House-appointed positions of Vice Chairman of the Japan-United States Friendship Commission and Vice Chairman of the U.S. panel of CULCON (Joint Committee on United States-Japan Cultural and Educational Interchange). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on committees of the Asia Society, Asia Foundation, Japan-America Society, and Harvard University.

Fukushima was Director for Japanese Affairs (1985-1988) and Deputy Assistant United States Trade Representative for Japan and China (1988-1990) at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) in Washington, D.C.

Fukushima was a visiting professor at Sophia University, Kyoto University, and Waseda University and in 2022 created the Fulbright/Glen S. Fukushima Fellowship administered by the Japan-United States Educational Commission (Fulbright Japan). He was educated at Deep Springs College, Stanford University, and Harvard University (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Business School, and Law School). He was a Fulbright Fellow and a Japan Foundation Fellow at the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo.

Oscar Dubón

Oscar Dubón is professor of materials science and engineering and associate dean of students in UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering. In addition, he is faculty scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Oscar earned a BS in materials engineering from UCLA and MS and PhD degrees from UC Berkeley, both in materials science and mineral engineering. Prior to joining UC Berkeley as a faculty member in 2000, he was a postdoctoral fellow in applied physics at Harvard University. His research has focused on the synthesis and properties of semiconductors as well as the interplay between point defects and the electrical and optical behavior of materials.

Previously, Oscar served as UC Berkeley’s vice chancellor for equity & inclusion (2017-2021) and associate dean in Berkeley Engineering (2012-2017). He has received several honors including Honorary Professor, Department of Physics, City University of Hong Kong (2019); the Chancellor’s Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence and Equity (UC Berkeley, 2016); the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (2004), the highest honor bestowed by the US government on outstanding scientists and engineers beginning their independent careers.

Board Chair

As the CEO of Intrax, Dennis leads the organization guiding its mission into the next generation and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit envisioned by its founders. Since joining Intrax, Dennis has been inspired by the impact cultural exchange can have on our communities and future generations.

Board Member

Marcie, President of Intrax, has firsthand knowledge of cross-cultural exchange's impact from studying, working, and living overseas, as well as traveling to over 82 countries. Her passion for cultural exchange drives her leadership and advocacy, including her role as Vice-Chair of the Board of The Alliance for International Exchange.
